P Verma, and Sreeraj Puravankara Abstract Potassium-ion batteries (PIBs), with a bigger shuttling cation ( K + ), compete with Lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) for future energy storage due to the higher mobility of the solvated ions and lesser desolvation energy during energy storage. Developing stable anode material with excellent battery metrics is challenging in PIBs. Graphite, a promising anode for PIBs, faces poor structural stability from massive volume expansion of 61% during intercalation. The hard carbons (HCs) with a pseudo graphitic domain with rich pores and defects can accommodate more potassium ions without significant structural degradation. Nagmani received International Travel Award from Science and Engineering Research Board, Government of India to present his scientific work at the Prestigious Electrochemical Society Meeting, Gothenburg Sweden.

Young Scientist Mr Nagmani from the International Advanced Research Centre for Powder Metallurgy and New Materials (ARCI), Hyderabad has been awarded an International Travel Award from the Science and Engineering Research Board, DST, Government of India for the 244th Electrochemical Society (ECS) Meeting at Gothenburg, Sweden (October 8-12, 2023). ECS is one of the prestigious scientific events in the field of batteries and supercapacitors research across the globe. Nagmani's research work has been selected by the ECS scientific committee for an oral presentation. He will present the strategy to improve the initial Coulombic efficiency of carbon anode using ether-based electrolytes for wide-temperature application sodium-ion batteries.
